Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that the Department of Art at SUNY Buffalo is
hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Digital Design and Emerging
Technologies beginning Fall 2018. Review of applications begins January
20th.

In brief:
We seek candidates with a high-level of creative or industry activity
comfortable working in an interdisciplinary arts environment whose practice
bridges interactive digital media design and experimental practices. Areas
of focus include, but are not limited to, user interface design, web and
mobile applications, information design, database development, speculative
design, and emergent media/hybrid forms. Candidates should have an in-depth
understanding of design processes and methodologies including research,
concept development, and execution. A basic knowledge of typography and
traditional graphic design practices is a plus.

The department has launched a new socially-engaged design studio.
Candidates with an interest in community engagement and interdisciplinary
collaboration are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Art has graduate programs at the MA, MFA and PhD levels
as well as BFA and BA programs. The candidate is expected to teach 2
courses a semester, advise students and contribute to the development of
the design and emerging practices curriculum and the new socially-engaged
design studio initiative.

UB is an AA/EOE and welcomes all to apply including veterans and
individuals with disabilities.

Minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

A terminal degree (MFA) in a studio discipline or related field is
required. A PhD with will also be considered if the candidate has an active
creative practice. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of excellence in
teaching at the college level, or of potential as an effective teacher.
