Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to invite your participation in several excellent focus sessions that the Division of Chemical Physics has organized for the March 2018 meeting of the American Physical Society. This conference will be held in Los Angeles, March 5-9, 2018. The deadline for submitting abstracts is November 3, 2017.
The topics of these symposia are:
“Self-assembly of nano-structured, macromolecular, and nano-porous materials,” organized by Michael Grünwald and Jim De Yoreo
“Supported nano-clusters as highly-tunable interfaces for chemistry,” organized by Anastassia N. Alexandrova and Michael White
“Strong light‐matter coupling: Enhanced spectroscopy, modified molecular dynamics and altered chemical reactions,” organized by Felipe Herrera and Jeff Owrutsky
“Excited states and non-adiabatic dynamics in molecular systems,” organized by Laura Gagliardi and Toru Shiozaki
“Developments of DFT from quantum to statistical mechanics,” organized by Jianzhong Wu and Kieron Burke
In addition, there will be a prize session honoring David Jonas, winner of the 2018 Plyler Prize, as well as the winner of the Justin Jankunas Doctoral Dissertation Award in Chemical Physics (to be announced).
A truly outstanding group of leaders in these fields have been invited to speak in these sessions. Details of the symposia and the list of speakers may be found at http://www.aps.org/units/dcp/meetings/symposia18.cfm
I am pleased to invite you and your associates to contribute oral presentations to any of the focus sessions as well as to a number of general sessions in all areas of chemical physics. Please note that space will be made on the schedule for all contributed oral presentations – a major selling point of APS as a venue for you and your students. Instructions for submitting an abstract may be found at http://www.aps.org/meetings/abstract/instructions.cfm
I look forward to seeing you in Los Angeles.
Best wishes,
Scott Anderson
