Job Description (from the website):
We wish to appoint an outstanding Research Fellow at the Usher Institute. Reporting to, and working with, Dr Ingrid Young you will support work on the Wellcome Trust Seed Award “Sex, drugs and activism: Negotiating biological citizenship and pharmaceutical prevention”. This research project will look at PrEP in the UK as a case study to better understand the role of community and clinical activism, sexual citizenship and the use of pharmaceuticals for prevention in sexual health. You will undertake research activities including qualitative research design and data collection in community and clinical settings, data analysis, and publication; and contribute to new research initiatives arising from the Award, including the development of grant applications for related projects.
You will have a PhD (or near completion) or equivalent research experience in social sciences (medical sociology/anthropology or science and technology studies). Demonstrable experience of conducting ethnographic fieldwork and/or in-depth individual or focus group interviews and experience of qualitative data analysis is essential. Ability to work independently under appropriate supervision, excellent project management and organisational skills with a flexible approach to working and willingness to travel as required are also crucial to the post.
The post will be taken up as soon as possible from 1st January 2018 and is fixed term to 31st December 2018 (full time – 35 hours).
