Director, Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland (BioSS)
Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland (BioSS) specialises in the
development and application of the quantitative methods needed to
enhance scientific understanding and impact. We are recognised
internationally for our work at the interface between the
mathematically-based sciences and a wide span of applied sciences. We
are one of the Scottish Environment, Food and Agriculture Research
Institutes (SEFARI) collective delivering a portfolio of research and
translational activities for our principal funder, the Scottish
Government. BioSS offers a stimulating working environment, with over
40 staff and students at four locations.
We seek to appoint as Director an exceptional individual with:
- an international standing in statistics, mathematical biology,
bioinformatics or a related field;
- extensive experience of collaboration with subject-area scientists to
solve problems in agriculture, the environment, food and/or health; and
- the organisational and leadership skills to co-ordinate and develop a
highly motivated, distributed, group of specialist staff.
The successful candidate will be offered an indefinite position subject
to a satisfactory probationary period. This position may be based at
either Edinburgh, Dundee or Aberdeen.
