This course describes how to use free Windows software Mozdeh to gather tweets and to download comments on YouTube videos. The course will also describe simple methods to gain insights into the meaning of the downloaded texts and to identify patterns within the data.
You will learn to use the free Mozdeh Windows software to:
* Gather tweets from a set of named users or tweets matching one or more keyword queries.
* Gather comments on one or more YouTube videos.
* Analyse the texts with simple big data methods: word association mining, gender, sentiment and time difference detection and association mining, time series graphs and networks of user interactions.
* Analyse the texts with content analysis.
NVivo for Qualitative Data Analysis<https://www.cmist.manchester.ac.uk/study/short/introductory/nvivo-for-qualitative-data-and-corpus-analysis/>- 24th November 2017
The various uses of NVivo will be presented and discussed. Included will be working in teams, adding in notes, importing files, and using NVivo for managing literature. Examples of qualitative and mixed methods research will be presented to showcase how NVivo can be used to manage large amounts of various data. On completing the course, participants will have covered the following through a combination of presentation and practical sessions:
* To explore basic, intermediate and advanced menu options in NVivo software.
* To produce queries, word clouds, and models that help to analysis qualitative data.
* To analyse qualitative data in a transparent, reproducible way so that teams can work on the database.
