Hi everyone
I'm currently doing some work in my capacity with Time To Read (http://www.time-to-read.co.uk/) on the best ways of promoting non best-selling authors. These can be "higher brow" (I don't like the phrase but can't think of a better one) authors/poets or, you know, basically the ones which don't easily sell tickets on just their own merits. I've seen some excellent ideas in some library authorities but I am sure there are more out there.
If you've seen, or been involved yourself, in a successful non big name author promotion, I'd love to hear how you did it. I'm also interested in what didn't work (confidentiality guaranteed!). Please reply to this post or, even better (to avoid all those annoying emails in people's inboxes) via [log in to unmask] I'll obviously produce a report and share ideas to the list. Thank you so much.
By the way, speaking of selling tickets for events, 16 North West Library services did a survey on what they charged for tickets etc a few months ago that you may all be interested in. You can access it via https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9r-dNr4kPL0TEdBanBna1Rybmc/view?usp=sharing or, if your IT department does not allow access to Google Docs, email me directly and I will send you a copy.
Best wishes.
