An opportunity has arisen for a Library Services Manager at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) library in Peterborough
The post holder will be responsible for the daily management of the library service to Natural England, whose staff is based in multiple locations across England. The post holder has joint operational responsibility for the library with the Library Services Manager for Defra and the Animal & Plant Health Agency
It is planned that Natural England will re-locate to a new location in Peterborough in 2019 and the post holder will be expected to work closely with the Estates and Record Management teams to ensure a smooth and successful move.
Key Responsibilities
• Organisation and management of Defra Library services across the three organisations, with an emphasis on Natural England customers
• Development, promotion and marketing of services to all customer groups
• Develop and maintain a high level of stakeholder engagement
• Staff management – one library officer
• Work with the Head of LIS and the library manager APHA/Core Defra to plan and develop new services for Natural England, Defra and APHA
• Contract management with library suppliers and other delivery partners
• Work with the contracts manager on budgeting and financial monitoring
• Bibliometrics and staff publications: develop a process for collating Natural England staff publications and derived bibliometrics regarding H-indices and citations.
• Copyright advice with regards to authors rights, Crown Copyright and third party use.
Three years' experience working in a government, academic or research library and a degree or post-graduate qualification in librarianship, (or an equivalent knowledge based qualification) is required
A proven track record in stakeholder engagement is desirable.
Salary: £28,040-£31,860
