> I totally agree with Ali In my personal opinion the pay issue is scandalous. We need to support each other especially as many people in this sector go from one temporary contract to another. Again, my personal opinion, funders can help with this by agreeing National hourly and yearly pay scales for certain standard posts based on a range of key criteria. As employees, temporary or permanent I feel we are held over a barrel. How much are you willing to sacrefice to work in the sector? A colleague has just left the sector for a permanent job.
> I also agree Gem, along with the Museum Association and other similar bodies should be working to persuade the government that low pay in the 'heritage sector is a bad thing. It is especially important given the current pressure people are under in all walks of life and the recent focus on museums and well being.
> In the meantime. We can help each other by being supportive and caring and sharing as we do. Remember there is also #museum5aday.
