Title: Minimax theory for a class of statistical inverse problems
Abstract:
We study minimax estimation rates for a class of statistical inverse problems motivated by various applications, including density estimation, binary regression and spectral density estimation. We derive function-dependent estimation rates for pointwise loss that capture spatial heterogeneity of the function. This rate is achieved via plug-in estimators based on hard-wavelet thresholding.
