The Alan Turing Institute Funded Studentship 2018
Division of Health Sciences, Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick and The Alan Turing Institute
Project Title: Biomarker Data Analytics for Stratified Medicine in Cancer
The PhD project shall aim to analyse prognostic and predictive biomarker data associated with clinical outcomes in cancer using novel statistical and mathematical methods. The full proposal shall be worked out jointly with the candidate once the application for the Turing doctoral studentship has been submitted. There is, therefore, some flexibility in the research problem and scope dependent on the student’s interests and previous experience.
The applicant should have a strong applied statistical or data-analytic background, ideally with a Master’s or equivalent degree in a relevant field. Candidates with a high Bachelor’s degree will also be considered. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and expanding team of research statisticians at the Statistics and Epidemiology Unit, led by Professor Nigel Stallard, within the Division of Health Sciences.
The studentship is an exciting collaboration with the Alan Turing Institute (ATI), UK’s national institute for data science founded in 2015 and headquartered at the British Library in London. The successful candidate will be expected to start in October 2018 and will be co-located at the ATI in London and the Warwick Medical School in Coventry. The academic supervisor will be Dr Deepak Parashar, Statistics and Epidemiology Unit, Division of Health Sciences, Warwick Medical School.
The Studentship is fully funded by the ATI, include a generous tax-free stipend of £20,500 per annum, a travel allowance and tuition fees for a period of 3.5 years, and is available to Home/EU and International students.
Candidates need to ensure to apply at the ATI website https://www.turing.ac.uk/opportunities/studentships/ and selecting Dr Deepak Parashar, Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick, as their choice of primary supervisor for this project. The closing date for studentship applications at the ATI is 30th November 2017 while the study application deadline for Warwick Medical School is also 30th November.
