Themed Collection: Parents and substance use; management of risky parenthood
Publication date: June 2018
Guest editors: Polly Radcliffe, Amy Chandler, Fiona Martin
We are seeking manuscripts for a themed collection in the International Journal of Drug Policy, which will critically examine: a) how substance using parents are managed and problematized in contemporary substance use policy and service delivery, and b) how parents who do not adhere to biomedical and social welfare regimens may negotiate or resist risk identities. See below for more detailed brief. Full details here: http://www.ijdp.org/article/S0955-3959(17)30265-7/pdf
Submissions may consider discussing the following:
* how recovery and other contemporary policy discourses affect the management of parents who use substances
* how knowledge is produced concerning parents who use substances
* how and in what ways ‘risk’ comes to be understood through interventions directed at particular forms of ‘body’
Authors are encouraged to provide an international perspective from high, middle and low income countries and provide an overview of current gaps in knowledge. Original research papers, social science, policy, historical and fiscal analyses, and theoretical submissions are all welcome, as full or short reports.
Guest editors Polly Radcliffe, Fiona Martin and Amy Chandler will be overseeing this themed collection. If you would like to have an article considered for this special section, please submit a letter of intent (LOI - see below) via email by 5PM GMT October 20th 2017 to [log in to unmask], with the subject of ‘International Journal of Drug Policy: Themed Section on Parents and Substance Use, Management of Risky Parenthood’. All LOIs received by the deadline will be reviewed and decisions will be made by November 3rd 2017. Articles selected for publication will undergo a peer review process, and must be submitted by January 10th 2017 (please note these are extended deadlines).
Please submit the LOI form below as an attachment. LOIs submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
