The Data Science Institute at Lancaster University are running a two-day workshop on 19-20 October 2017 designed to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of emergent, adaptive, self-designing and self-organising systems. Our particular focus is to bring together systems-oriented researchers with machine learning and optimisation researchers. Further details are on the workshop webpage at <https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/emergent-and-self-adaptive-systems-theory-and-practice-registration-37002444307>.
The workshop is open to anyone to attend but we do have a limited number of places: the first 50 places are free (excluding the optional evening meal), and we have capacity for a further 50 attendees for which there will be a small charge. The workshop will be highly interactive, with demos, posters, a panel session, and a future minds session which will use a set of topic-based interest groups to share and build ideas for future collaboration.
Attendees are encouraged to submit poster and demo proposals, and also proposals to give one of our 15-minute lightning talks. Proposals should be submitted by email to Amanda Fenwick at [log in to unmask] and should be no more than 500 words long. The deadline for submission is September 14th 2017. The best proposals will be selected and you will be informed of the decision by September 20th.
This workshop is being jointly organised by Dr. Barry Porter (School of Computing and Communications), Prof. David Leslie (Department of Mathematics and Statistics) and Dr. Michael Epitropakis (Management School).
