Dear all,
This is from the Geological Society, soliciting nominations for its annual awards for 2018:
"Fellows, the Specialist and Regional Groups are urged to put forward nominations for the Society’s 2018 Awards. Many of the Awards (including the Lyell, William Smith and Murchison Medals) can be made in recognition of ‘sustained and excellent contributions by means of a substantial body of work through careers in areas of academic, applied or economic geoscience’. We are also looking for nominations for the 2018 Aberconway Medal which is aimed at mid-career geoscientists ‘with no more than 25 years’ full time equivalent experience to recognise distinction in the practice of applied or economic geoscience’.
"Full details of how to make nominations are on our website (see below). Nominations must be received at the Society no later than 29 September 2017. Please contact Stephanie Jones: [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> if you have a potential nomination. "
If you are a RAS BGA member and would like to nominate someone for a GeolSoc
award, please have a look at the website (URL below) and contact Stephanie Jones,
copy to me ([log in to unmask]). Particularly consider your early-career
colleagues for the three "Funds" awards, which are for those within ten years
(full-time equivalent) of receiving their first degree in geosciences or a cognate
subject.
