Dear all,
The RAS is going to a Campaign for Science and Engineering forum
on migration trends (people not birds or seismic data), ultimately to
inform the Home Office's Migration Advisory Committee (which recommends
things like "shortage occupations" for which preferential visa treatment
is given).
The forum is tomorrow (Thursday) so if you have any input please send it
directly to Robert Massey ([log in to unmask]) today (since I will not be at my
email for the rest of today or tomorrow).
Thanks!
Sheila Peacock,
list co-owner; RAS Council.
Queries below:
1.What are the characteristics (e.g. types of jobs, skill levels, patterns of employment - long term, short term, training (as trainee/trainer), self-employed etc) of EEA migrants in your organization/sector/local area/ region. How do these differ from UK workers? And from non-EEA workers?
2.Have the patterns of EEA migration changed over time? What evidence do you have showing your employment of EEA migrants since 2000? And after the Brexit referendum? What are the underlying reasons for any changes (long-term or more recent)?

Case studies and surveys
• Do you have any examples or case studies either relating to your organization or sector as a whole, or of individuals within your organization that bring to life your response to any of the above questions?**
• Has your organization undertaken any surveys of your workforce, on attitudes and intentions in light of Brexit, or on workforce profile that would be helpful to inform the MAC's inquiry?
