Bedford BC - OFFICIAL-Unsecure
Bedfordshire Archives is looking for an archivist to work full time for approximately 24 weeks (starting as soon as possible and probably finishing at the end of March 2018). The role will involve one day a week as archivist cover in the searchroom and/or enquiries (usually Monday or Friday but flexible to suit service needs) and the rest of the week working on cataloguing part of the nationally important Richardson & Houfe architects' collection.
Although only a short term post this role offers good opportunity to work in an accredited local authority archive service and on the cataloguing of a major collection. You will gain experience on the customer front line as well as learn the importance and difficulties of a large 20th century architectural collection, a particular strength of Bedfordshire Archives. You will be self-motivated, organised, productive and accurately work to ISAD(G). You will also be able to work as a team.
The post is part funded by maternity cover and part funded by external funding at our standard rate for a junior archivist post (approximately £22,443 per annum pro rata). The post is based at Borough Hall, Bedford.
Due to the time constraints of the project we are hoping to find someone who is interested and available now who would be willing to sign on with an employment agency used by Bedford Borough Council or a self-employed archivist who would undertake this as a contract.
Interested? Please contact Pamela Birch for further details and discussions.
