Two opportunities are currently available to work in Conservation and Preservation at the University of Glasgow Library.
Conservation and Preservation Manager (Ref 018973)
This is an exciting new opportunity for an ICON accredited conservator to manage and develop conservation and preservation services for the University of Glasgow Library's world class Archives and Special Collections. The postholder will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of a small team, and will lead on planning specialist interventive care across the collections, developing collection care policies, devising funding bids and overseeing a digitisation programme to help maximise access to a range of heritage material both physically and digitally. An excellent communicator and problem solver, the postholder will also participate in promoting the collections within the University and in the wider academic and public community.

Project Book Conservator (Ref 018755)
We are looking for an experienced and professionally qualified book conservator to play an instrumental role in delivering the University's major international Tercentenary exhibition dedicated to William Hunter and his life, opening in September 2018. The postholder will use specialist skills, initiative and expertise to undertake interventive conservation work in a 12 month project dedicated to loans from Special Collections and Archives from the 18th century collection of William Hunter. With excellent organisational skills and a high degree of motivation, the postholder will repair and prepare a range of rare books, printed and manuscript, dating from the 12th century onwards.
