The Centre for Transport studies is part of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) at UCL and is renowned for its commitment to excellence in research, and for its creative and innovative approach to engineering education.
The appointee will undertake research of international standing in transport studies, with a focus on the modelling and analysis of transport systems, their operation, management and planning, exploring various ways in which the increasing capability of communication and digital technologies can be harnessed to provide for the needs of those who travel and other members of the public. They will undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the department in the areas of quantitative analysis and modelling, both through existing courses and by assisting with new course development, including where appropriate the coordination of course modules.
This appointment is for an established position, subject to probation, with start date 1 January 2018.
The appointee will have a doctorate or other postgraduate research experience in transport studies or a related topic that, together with their research record, establishes their analytical and quantitative capabilities. They will have demonstrated research experience and a record of research publications (or a plan for suitable publications leading up to the next Research Excellence Framework assessment exercise) at a level that indicates international excellence in the field. The skills required for this post include quantitative and numerate capability as established by a degree in mathematics, statistics, operational research or a similar discipline, and an orientation towards applications in analytical modelling that is relevant to transport systems and their usage.
