In recent years, the application of “Big Data” technologies have begun to transform science, engineering, medicine, transport, healthcare, finance, business, and ultimately our society itself. The IEEE Big Data conference series started in 2013 has established itself as the top tier research conference in Big Data. The 2017 conference will be held in Boston, MA, and alongside the main programme will feature 40 workshops on the application of Big Data techniques in a wide range of industrial settings.

Workshop 22 will focus on the “Applications of Big Data in the Transport Industry”, and aims to bring together researchers and industry practitioners from the USA, Europe, and worldwide, to discuss the current state-of-the-art in the field, to identify existing technologies in other domains that could be leveraged by the transport industry, and to prioritize topics for research and development in the sector going forwards.

Call for Papers
============
The organizing committee would like to take this opportunity to invite the submission of full papers for presentation at the workshop. Papers should be of up to 10 pages / 8,000 words in length, and may focus on any topic related to the theme of “The Application of Big Data Technologies in the Transport Industry”. Papers addressing the introduction of technologies novel to the industry are particularly welcome.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
	• Business analytics of transport data (e.g. planning of service provision)
	• Big Data in support of asset management (e.g. Remote Condition Monitoring of vehicles and infrastructure)
	• Traffic management and real-time transport operations (e.g. management of traffic flows)
	• The Internet of Transport Things (e.g. management and monitoring of freight in transit)
	• Improved services for customers (e.g. dynamic journey planning during disruptions, delivering the end-to-end journey across transport modes)
	• Big data technology and transportation safety

Submission
=========
Full papers should be submitted via the workshop section of the conference’s Cyberchair system, available at https://wi-lab.com/cyberchair/2017/bigdata17/scripts/ws_submit.php Remember to check that you’re submitting to workshop 22, “Applications of Big Data Technology in the Transport Industry”, or your paper will not reach us.
