Experience: PhD in a relevant field plus 4 years experience with good

knowledge of the climate science landscape. Knowledge of Earth observation

is desirable but not essential.

Why? Seems unnecessarily restrictive. Wellcome’s director of comms has a history degree and (I’m guessing) many/most of our comms team don’t have science backgrounds; of those that do, very few have a PhD.

Genuinely just interested as to why you think these criteria will get you the best candidate?

The European Space Agency's Climate Office is currently recruiting a

science communication specialist. You would join a small team in ESA

ECSAT, Harwell, UK to lead its communications, outreach and education

programmes. The Climate Office works to deliver ESA's flagship programme

on climate, the Climate Change Initiative, as well as working more

generally on applications of Earth observation data for climate.

An overview of the role and how to apply are included below, while the

full job description and details can be found on the Climate Change

    Initiative website.

    Climate Science Communication, ref: RT-C/EOP-PM/00081

The ESA Climate Office requires a highly motivated communications officer

with a science background to produce content for, and help coordinate, its

communications, outreach and education programme. The candidate will

ensure effective delivery of the Climate Change Initiative’s knowledge

exchange strategy. They will establish a dialogue with specialised user

communities from the scientific, public, policy and educational sectors in

order to to expand the awareness, utilisation and impact of EO data for

    climate.

Experience: PhD in a relevant field plus 4 years experience with good

can bid to host the positions. Interested candidates can apply for the
