BEFORE YOU WERE BORN, 2ND SEPT, 3-5PM, MANCHESTER CONVENTION CENTRE
Hi All,
Just sending a reminder to those of you based in the North-West about a free, family-friendly event happening in Manchester on Saturday 2nd September.
Have you ever wondered why you have a belly-button? Or how a baby gets its food in the womb?
'Before you were Born' is an exploration of the amazing research being carried out by the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre at The University of Manchester. With a focus on the placenta, the organ that connects a mother to her baby whilst she is pregnant, come along and delve into the world of life before you were born.
Kids and adults can come for an afternoon of interactive games and activities, including:
- Meet the Scientists - Scientists from around the world have 3 minutes to wow you with their research. Find out what a supersoaker has in common with the placenta!
- Mini-experiments - kids can dress up in mini-lab coats and have a go at being a scientist for the afternoon
- Playdough Placentas - release your creative side and have a go at making your own placenta out of playdough
- Take on the giant noughts and crosses game to find out about health in pregnancy
- Find out what it is like to work in a pregnancy clinic by speaking to midwives from Manchester's St Mary's Hospital
- Photography exhibition featuring beautiful shots of the placenta as you have never seen it before (child friendly)
-.......and lots more!
