Good morning,
Sedbergh School is looking to commission a dress maker/costume maker to produce items for a dressing up box to accompany an exhibition about the history of Casterton School. The archive has descriptions of early uniforms and sketches of what some of the uniforms looked liked. As the items need to be easy for visitors to try on they would not need to be exact copies and the dress maker could use artistic license to make items that are suitable for a dress up box either by making their own dress making patterns or by adapting ‘costume’ dressing making patterns that are available to purchase.
The budget is £1000 which would need to include all costs of labour, fabric/haberdashery items, purchasing dress making patterns, delivery, VAT etc. We are happy to be guided by the dress maker as to how much is realistic to achieve within that budget.
I’d be delighted to hear from anyone who would be interested in the work or who can recommend someone who has made similar ‘dressing up’ items for a heritage setting.

Many thanks
Katy
