The Health Informatics Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust encompasses a variety of specialist teams. Health Informatics involves the retrieval, analysis, interpretation and presentation of health data and information. Our specialist teams work together to support the application and use of information, to help develop knowledge and build insight. This role will sit within the Statistics and Advanced Analytics Research team, a rapidly expanding team of statisticians, data managers and analysts.
This is a new post which is offered as a 12 month fixed term post due to funding. The Research Fellow will help maximise the analytic approach to the internal data sources within the organisation, and help showcase the advantages of applying data mining and predictive modelling to the clinical and operational teams. The post will be working closely with Professors and senior academics based at the University of Birmingham as well as clinical experts within UHB.
The Research Fellow will need to be familiar with the techniques of data mining and predictive modelling, although the role is based within a smaller team the role will involve independent working. Applicants should have experience in the handling and manipulating of large datasets as well as having good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as the ability to use statistical software such as STATA, SAS or R.
Note: This is a 1-year fixed term contract due to funding.
