A health statistician is required for the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit and Methodological Support Group located within the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. In this position you will contribute to the design, analysis and reporting of randomised controlled trials and other well-designed studies in health and develop your own area of research consistent with the Faculty's research strategy and planned Research Excellence Framework Submission.
You will join, or closely collaborate with, research teams which typically comprise members from both within and outside the University. The position will also involve some teaching, research student supervision and work on innovation or knowledge transfer projects, both internally and externally with local NHS Trust partners.
You will have working experience of a relevant research area, have worked with professionals from health-related disciplines (e.g. health, medicine, nursing, psychology) and have produced written research reports involving mathematical and/or statistical modelling techniques. Experience in collaborating with and/or delivering statistics services to research teams as well as teaching/supervising undergraduate students, postgraduate students and /or post-experiential learners is also essential.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will possess excellent oral communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively and independently. Planning and organisational skills as well as report writing skills are also core requirements for this position.
You will have a postgraduate degree in medical statistics or a closely related subject and a higher education teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake on appointment).
