Dear Colleagues
It seems that preparation for the start of Semester 2 in the Southern hemisphere, or for the new academic year in the North, filled a lot of colleagues' break, so we have had numerous requests for an extension to the short paper submission deadline to the International Conference on Models of Engaged Learning and Teaching (I-MELT) . www.i-melt.edu.au<http://www.i-melt.edu.au> has all conference details, including information on short paper submissions for presentations and workshops, due by 14 August.
So far we have exciting short papers dealing with a variety of MELT uses, adaptations, evaluations and critiques from Fiji, Malaysia, Pakistan, UK, USA and Australasia. Short papers submitted to date include a focus on:
Problem Based Learning; Critical Thinking; Work Integrated Learning; Clinical Reasoning; Development of the research skills of Pacific People's, refugees in Australia, English Learners in Pakistan; RSD for addressing Equity Gaps; Enhancing Maths learning and problem solving; First year transitions; Masters programs and MBAs; Integrated Online Reports; RSD Communities of Practice; Research Training; and Experiential Writing; in many discipline or cross-disciplinary contexts.
As you may know, the Models of Engaged Learning and Teaching (MELT) inform the conference and include:
* Research Skill Development framework<http://www.rsd.edu.au>
* Work Skill Development framework<http://www.adelaide.edu.au/rsd/framework/frameworks/>
* Optimising Problem Solving Pentagon<http://www.adelaide.edu.au/rsd/framework/frameworks/>
* Clinical Reflection Skills framework<http://www.adelaide.edu.au/rsd/framework/frameworks/>
* Your own version, in keeping with the parameters of MELT www.melt.edu.au<http://www.melt.edu.au>
For those who submitted by the original due date, we will have peer reviewers' comments back to you by the 24th August, so that you can plan your travel and accommodation accordingly.
As I-MELT is 11-13 December, accommodation is at a premium; conference rates are currently available on the website www.i-melt.edu.au<http://www.i-melt.edu.au>
For those who submit by 14 August, you should hear about outcomes for your paper before 14 September.
Some accepted short papers may be invited to submit a full paper for a Special Issue of the JUTLP. There is also a separate call for EoIs http://ro.uow.edu.au/jutlp/latestnews.html .
It would be great to receive your submission. Please pass this onto any colleague who may be interested.
Kind regards
John
