No help on the appropriate Dewey number, Patrick but a great idea for a
poem. Not sure that the bookshelves themselves could be 'well thumbed'
unless perhaps you mean raked over in search of absent books? Also, maybe
some quality/ies (besides popularity) of the particular librarian could be
allowed? I like that this librarian is ungendered.
