One of my earlies memories, Andrew, Sheila, me in cot, waking in the
aftenoon to hear and see a man snoozing on a single bed on the far wall.
'Uncle Tom', was brother of 'Aunt Nance', my young parents' landlady in a
double storey house in Glenroy, a suburb of Melbourne. For years I wondered
why Tom would choose to snooze in 'my' room. Only recently did it occur to
me that it was probably his bedroom and Mum had parked me in thee for a
snoze while she chatted with Nance. Tried in poem to pick up the
unsettledness/surprise/fear. Maybe stanza break after 'flatbacked'?
