The Graduate Trainee Archive Assistant will assist researchers accessing the library and archive collections of the Museum of English Rural Life and University of Reading Special Collections and be responsible for answering postal, telephone and e-mail research enquiries. The postholder will also be responsible for cataloguing and preservation of archives under the supervision of an Archivist.
You will have:
- Good verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively and professionally with enquiries from researchers in a reading room environment
- Enthusiasm and commitment to providing a professional service for researchers
- IT skills - competence in MS Office, use of databases, internet, email
- Previous experience of study or working with archives/library materials. This graduate trainee post would offer an opportunity for pre course experience prior to a postgraduate qualification in archives.
Please note that the person specification has a mistake it states a full driving licence is essential but a full driving licence is desirable for this post. If you cannot drive we would still encourage you to apply.
Full time fixed term for one year. Starting date: Monday 11 September 2016
