Are you interested in a career in archives or museums? Seeking practical experience in a busy archive?
This summer the M&S Company Archive is offering week-long volunteer placements to help you gain experience of working with archives.
Based in Leeds, the archive collects, catalogues and provides access to all kinds of records of Marks & Spencer’s past, including more than 71,000 items dating from 1884 to the present day. We work to support M&S as a business, to inspire learning and to engage the wider community with M&S heritage. As well as our permanent exhibition and reading room service, we also have a busy events, schools and community programme.
During a week-long placement with us, you can gain practical experience in listing and handling archives and objects, as well as becoming familiar with all sorts of other activities undertaken by the Archive team.
Our summer volunteer placements will suit someone who is committed to a career in the heritage sector and is looking for practical skills and experience to support future job or course applications.
Placements are available for the week of 7-11 August or 14-18th August, and travel expenses will be reimbursed (up to £10 per day with receipts/tickets).
If you would like to apply for a placement with us this summer, please send your CV and a covering note to let us know which week(s) you are available, to [log in to unmask] by Fri 14 July.
