Book project call for contributors: “Profit, Protest, and the Asylum Industry”
Deadline for proposals/ abstracts: Monday, 31 July.
While the power to grant or deny asylum to people remains primarily under the control of States, this volume will approach the actors and institutions forming around asylum systems internationally as an "industry.” Our position engages analyses of commodification and industrialization in multiple, related spheres under neoliberal capitalism.
We invite proposals for contributions from scholars, activists, artists, journalists, and people directly impacted by the asylum process, discussing profit-making activities in and around asylum systems, and/or ways in which they may be resisted. We encourage submissions of political artwork, photoessays, and other formats, as well as of scholarly and journalistic texts.
