Dear List, having checked the archive of previous topics I can't find that there has previously been any discussion around the status, and hence management, of newspaper clippings/cuttings. Historically the Bletchley Park Trust collected newspaper clippings related to the site, the work of the codebreakers based here, obituaries of veterans and the Trust itself and accessioned these into both the library and the archive collections. We are now reviewing our acquisition procedures and it would be useful to know how other institutions process newspaper clippings. For example: do you accept them at all? Do they form part of your archive/library/reference/special collections? Are they accessioned? Are they somehow accorded a lesser status than other parts of your holdings? Is it still worthwhile collecting newspaper clippings? Any and all information and ideas would be gratefully received.
Yours sincerely
Guy
