See: http://isi-iass.org/home/services/the-survey-statistician/ for previous issues of the newsletter.
This issue carries some important announcements and updates from the IASS President Steven Heeringa and Scientific Secretary Denise Silva.
Besides our regular features of country reports on activities related to survey statistics, Table of Contents of relevant journals and announcements for upcoming conferences, we also have special articles in each issue under the headings: 'New and Emerging Methods', 'Ask the Expert 'and 'Book/Software Review' .
The current issue contains the following:
- New and Emerging Methods: Marco Di Zio (Istat), Li-Chun Zhang (University of Southampton and Statistics Norway) and Ton De Waal (Statistics Netherlands and Tilburg University) contributed an article titled: Statistical Methods for Combining Multiple Sources of Administrative and Survey Data.
- The Ask the Experts also deals with data integration of two or more data files in the response provided by Edward J. Mulrow (NORC, University of Chicago) to the question: 'What does the term Data Linkage mean?'.
- Software Review: We have two contributed articles which demonstrate the use of 'Shiny' R in official statistics. The first article is written by Thijs Benschop (Humboldt University, Berlin) and Matthew Welch (World Bank) titled: 'A Shiny application for statistical disclosure control: sdcApp opening the power of sdcMicro to non-R users'.
The second article is written by Tobias Schoch (ECOPLAN AG, Switzerland) titled: Monitoring Statistical Indicators Using R/Shiny: A Case Study on Public Transport Safety in Switzerland'.
We thank all of the section editors and contributors to the newsletter.
