Professor Julius Sim will be presenting a methodology seminar on "Grounded Theory", as part of our Biostatistics seminar series at Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre, Keele University.
Monday 10th July 1-3pm in Dinwoodie lecture theatre, Primary care sciences, David Weatherall building, Keele University
This seminar will consider grounded theory as an approach to qualitative research. The origins of grounded theory will be described, as well as the subsequent development of different varieties of grounded theory. We will examine the logic of grounded theory and the methods of data collection and analysis that it characteristically employs, including issues such as theoretical sampling, saturation and the constant comparative method. Issues and controversies surrounding grounded theory will be explored, and an example will be used to illustrate grounded theory in action.
