My client, based in the Irish Republic is currently seeking a GIS Spatial Analyst for a long term 3 year contract. We need to turn this around quickly so please get in touch asap if you feel you have the skills required.
Nature of the tasks
•Analysis of business teams and scientists requirements for multispectral satellite imagery, SAR, LIDAR and other remotely sensed images and identification of appropriate source data sets
•Design and develop remote sensing processing models to integrate and interpret both in-situ data and satellite imagery to produce thematic maps on landuse, landcover and habitats
•Design and develop models to analysis change statistics in remotely sensed thematic maps to quality change between mapping periods
•Design and develop remote sensing models to interpret environmental quality at remote and unmonitored sites
•Acquisition and management of imagery (multispectral, SAR, LIDAR, aerial photographs, sentinel etc.)
•Production of in-situ control point data to ensure the quality of output data
•Acquisition and management of in-situ data on land use and cover (e.g. forestry data)
•Ortho-rectification and / or geo-referencing of imagery for local studies, where required
•Liaison with external providers of satellite image interpretation services
•Provision of expert advice and assistance in the management and development of Clients land cover/land use programme, including Copernicus participation and STRIVE research activities in the remote sensing area.
Education
•University degree or equivalent in a relevant subject with post-graduate training in Remote Sensing or completed training courses in specialised institute/schools on Remote Sensing
•Training in GIS
•Training in the interpretation of multi-spectral satellite imagery for the identification of vegetation and land cover/land use
Knowledge and skills
•Certification of knowledge of technologies for the remote sensing of environmental data, experience of Trimble eCognition software would be a benefit
•Knowledge of the methods of obtaining, analysing and using remotely sensed data for environmental purposes
•Ability to undertake a complete satellite image processing project from the choice and acquisition of imagery to the production of land cover (or other environmental) data sets and the production of statistics of change
•Ability to create automatic classification methods would be an advantage
•Good written and verbal communication skills
•Very good English language knowledge is mandatory
Experience
Experience of at least 3 years’ experience in Remote Sensing is essential including skills in:
O data capture and verification
O spectral analysis of multispectral imagery
O interpretation of multi-spectral satellite imagery for the
identification of vegetation, land cover/land use and other environmental purposes
o geo-referencing and ortho-rectification of satellite imagery
o production of in-situ ground control data
o integration of in-situ data into remote sensing process models
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
O working with Trimble eCognition software
