Dear Betty
I totally agree that the SCPHN courses should not collapse as a result of a
shortage of PTs and I am very grateful to those OHNs who try to support us.
There is a course offered at cost by London South Bank University. That
course is run by Joy Power.
There is also a distance learning course offered at no cost by the
University of Western Scotland and it is lead by Marisa Stevenson. I have
cc'd to both Marisa and Joy
It is great that practitioners want to undertake that role and that the
training course that Marisa offers is still available at no charge. However,
there is still a "cost" to those who wish to undertake that training. They
must do the academic work in their own time and have a student at the same
time. Having said that it is a great addition to your cv.
If you would like to access either the above Practice Teacher courses we
would be delighted to put a student in touch with you. We have just offered
places to more than 25 students and quite a few of them still need
placements, hence the pleas.
Best
Anne
