The Associate Professorship is tenable from the start of the 2017/18 academic year or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants should have a strong research interest in an area within, or complementary to, the principal areas of research within the department. The department is particularly interested in attracting candidates with expertise in one or more of the following: development geography, political ecology, global south or environmental humanities. The successful candidate will teach, supervise and examine undergraduate and graduate students. Other key duties include co-operating in the administrative work of the School and the College. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in human geography or a closely related field, have a proven track record of high-quality research and publications in human geography at an international level, as well as evidence of imaginative research plans and the potential to lead and manage new research initiatives. The ability to teach at both undergraduate and graduate level, and the skills and commitment to become a fully participating member of the School are also essential.
The Associate Professorship will be held in association with a fellowship at Mansfield College. The current Principal of Mansfield is Baroness Helena Kennedy, and the college is home to the new Oxford Institute for Human Rights. Further information about the college can be found here:
