Hi Tohoku,
Steven Ludtke kindly pointed out that I forgot to describe the filter in
the PostProcessing step. That is important, as those will give the maps
one deposits at EMDB.
In relion_postprocess, the sum of the two independently refined
half-maps is:
- first, multiplied with the FSC curve between the 2 maps (after
correction of the FSC for the solvent mask convolution effects as
described in this paper: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ultramic.2013.06.004)
- second, sharpened using a B-factor as described in the 2003
Rosenthal & Henderson paper: http://doi.org/10.1016/j.jmb.2003.07.013
- third, a raised-cosine soft-edge filter (like in
relion_image_handler) is applied to the map at the resolution where FSC
drops below 0.143. The width of that edge can be controlled through the
command-line, but in the GUI a default of 2 Fourier pixels will be used.
HTH2,
Sjors
