The Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) invites you to the
launch of the new volume* A World Laid Waste? Responding to the Social,
Cultural and Political Consequences of Globalisation* on Monday 26th June,
1pm - 5pm.
The book opens up new ways of responding to the present circumstance, that
go beyond both populist politics of fear and protection, and the idea that
destructive change is inevitable or unstoppable. Drawing on a number of
different empirical settings, and from an interdisciplinary approach, this
volume illustrates how creative responses to the wastelands of
globalisation can establish alternative narratives of hope.
Speakers include*: Mike Savage, Laura Bear, Sarah Green, Evelyn Ruppert,
Karel Williams, Hannah Knox, Jill Ebrey, Andrew Miles, Penny Harvey, and
Marie Gillespie.*
The launch will be in the Anthropology Dept., University College London, 14
Taviton Street, WC1H 0BW, from 1pm - 5pm with a wine reception to follow.
Please see attached poster for more details.
