Advancing methods in biostatistics and epidemiology is one of the strategic priorities of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. We are seeking an outstanding individual to take a leading role in developing and extending our thriving methodological research programme in the post of Professor in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. This new professorial position is an exciting opportunity for an internationally established biostatistician to play a leading role in the largest UK academic centre for medical statistics.
The Professor role will provide academic leadership at the most senior level. It will enhance the academic standing and financial sustainability of the School by: securing high quality research funding; publishing research of the highest quality; developing and delivering high quality educational programmes; contributing to external knowledge translation and enterprise. There will be the opportunity to analyse data and collaborate on publications from related ongoing studies at LSHTM. The successful candidate will be expected to lead methodological research in biostatistics as well as provide guidance and leadership for quantitative methodological research carried out across the School. The role will also involve the teaching and supervision of postgraduate students as appropriate.
Candidates will have a PhD in a relevant field and strong quantitative skills as well as an established international reputation and a considerable record of research and publication in biostatistics. The role will require a high level of expertise and understanding of statistical methods. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to obtain major research funding and leading a multidisciplinary team whilst being able to communicate complex methods to a non-specialist audience. Teaching and research degree supervision experience are both essential.
