Dear All,
I have been looking into a comparison of DARTEL and SHOOT and found
that, as expected, a DARTEL template will contain n volumes (one volume
per contributing class). This differs from SHOOT which (although the
help text suggests otherwise) contains an extra volume. From what I can
see, the last volume is 1-sum(vol_1:vol_n), such that the overall tissue
probabilities of the shoot template will sum to 1.
This begs the question whether, by cheating and adding such an extra
volume to an existing DARTEL template, one can re-utilize a DARTEL
template within the SHOOT (existing template) module. I of course tried
it and it seems to work, but I would appreciate feedback on whether this
is acceptable from a (1) mathematical and (2) data processing
standpoint, also considering that by default, DARTEL generates 6 and
SHOOT only 4 iterations.
As always, your input is much appreciated.
Cheers
Marko
