****CALL for PAPERS****
Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference 2017
Strathclyde University, Glasgow - Friday 10th to Saturday 11th November 2017
Call for Papers, Speakers, Displays and Contributions
Historic Environment Scotland and Archaeology Scotland are delighted to announce the call for contributions to Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference 2017. Now in its sixth year, Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference is a unique annual event within the UK that offers the opportunity for heritage volunteers and professionals to network, share experiences and create future working partnerships.
To celebrate Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, this year’s conference will be a two-day event, with two key aims:
• To showcase the exemplar work of community-led heritage in Scotland, the UK and beyond – both of individual projects and of wider initiatives
• To learn from community-based best practice outside Scotland
We are keen to hear from you about your involvement with community heritage, and this year are inviting contributions from both community volunteers and professionals. The emphasis, as always, will be on providing a forum for networking and the exchange of news and ideas. To get an idea of previous conferences, why not take a look at some of our previous presentations on YouTube.
We hope to repeat the success of our previous conferences by offering opportunities for you to contribute a formal presentation, take part in training workshops, showcase your work with a display, or take part in the One Minute Mayhem!
We want to hear from you if:
a) You would like to offer a 15-20 minute talk/PowerPoint presentation to the conference on a community-based archaeology or heritage project
b) You have an idea for a workshop or discussion and would be willing to help lead or contribute towards a session (typically 45 minutes);
c) You would like space for a display, showcasing your local community heritage project. We can supply tables, but we would prefer if you can bring your own display boards (though we may be able to help – ask us);
d) You would like to take part in ‘One Minute Mayhem’ – a 60-second opportunity to share your thoughts about anything heritage-based;
e) You have other ideas for workshops and themes or for the conference – are there particular themes or skills you would like your group to learn about?
If any of the above is something you would like to be involved with, please send us your ideas (or any questions) by Tuesday 30th May 2017, to [log in to unmask] Please pass on this invitation with others who might be interested in sharing their experiences.
Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference is a partnership of Archaeology Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland, with contributions and support from heritage bodies across Scotland and beyond.
