This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team of sound recording cataloguers as it embarks on an exciting five year project, Unlocking Our Sound Heritage. The project is part of the British Library’s wider Save Our Sounds programme, and will digitally preserve almost half a million sound recordings, establish a network of ten audio archiving centres across the UK, and make it easier for people to discover and listen to these recordings.
As the Lead Metadata Manager you will be responsible for managing the project’s cataloguing team, overseeing the project’s copyright and data protection activities and ensuring that quality standards and targets are met. You will also be responsible for developing audio visual cataloguing standards and play a role in maintaining the British Library’s international reputation for excellence in archival audio visual metadata. A key part of the role will be working with members of the project team at the British Library and the project partners across the UK.
The successful candidate will have significant experience working with audio visual collections in a research library, archive or similar environment.
