SAE2017, a Satellite Meeting of the 61st International Statistical Institute (ISI) World Statistics Congress on Small Area Estimation, will be held on July 10-12 on the Jussieu Campus of Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France.
The Keynote Speakers of SAE2017 are Partha Lahiri, University of Maryland, USA, and Danny Pfeffermann, National Statistician of Israel and Professor, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and Southampton Statistical Science Research Institute, United Kingdom.
There are seven Plenary Invited Sessions and nine Special Topic and Contributed Sessions at SAE2017.
Full details and the schedule could be found on the website sae2017.ensai.fr.
The main purpose of SAE2017 is to assess the current state of development and usage of small area methodology, and to discuss problems and solutions to the challenging problems mentioned above. We hope that this meeting will serve as a bridge between statisticians and practitioners working on SAE in academia, private and government agencies as well as in other fields. Although there have been conferences on SAE topics in recent years, the new and emerging challenges in SAE and from other fields that could benefit from the ideas and methods developed in SAE fully justify another SAE conference, taking advantage of the 61st ISI World Statistics Congress. Holding the meeting in Paris will give researchers from France and Europe as well as other parts of the world an opportunity to learn about state-of- the-art SAE techniques from the experts in the field, and potential usefulness and opportunities of using these techniques in solving their own practical problems.
Compared to the previous SAE conferences, SAE2017 is the first one that has a clear focus on Big Data, as well as interaction of SAE with other fields. These new focuses are not only in line with the global trend of a new era, but will also make longâlasting impact on the practice of SAE, and on future SAE conferences.
