HI All
Apols for cross-posting.
Since I posted the other day about 2019 being the 250th anniversary of Watt’s patent I have been gently reminded by Prof Frank James from the RI that Watt died in 1819, on August 20, so 2019 is a doubly important Watt anniversary, both the bicentenary of his death, and 250 years since the patent.
So that’s even more reason to plan Watt-themed events for 2019.
I know there are already plans afoot for Watt celebrations in Birmingham (of course!) in 2019, see
http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/activity/cwmh/research/watt2019.aspx
and I hope that Glasgow will be making a fuss about one of its most kenspeckle sons, too.
But wouldn’t it be great if we could organise Watt-related stuff all over the country.
Might organisations like the IoP, the I Mech E, RAe Eng, and IET consider getting together a funding stream to support Watt 200/250 activities?
Happy Friday afternoon
Richard.
