This is a 3-day conference on the theme of contemporary selective scientific realism (sometimes called 'divide et impera' realism), part of the AHRC-funded project “Scientific Realism and the Challenge from the History of Science<http://community.dur.ac.uk/evaluating.realism/index.html>”. The conference brings together over 20 speakers from 10 countries.
Conference Themes:
• Assessing the validity of selective scientific realism by examining relevant evidence from the history of science
• Bringing that evidence to bear upon a variety of selective scientific realist positions
• Evaluating philosophical and conceptual challenges to the selective realist stance
• Discussing the future of scientific selective realism
