Researching and Writing Women’s Experimental Film. Monday 8th May. 18.30pm. £6.50.
What are the challenges, choices, and possibilities of researching and writing about women’s experimental film? In our second talk supported by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, Dr Lucy Reynolds (University of Westminster) will share her experience of the issues of researching, writing and advocating for women artist filmmakers of different generations and historical moments. Is a definition of gender still meaningful, for artists and writers alike, and what importance does feminism hold for a new generation of moving image artists? Lucy will discuss her ongoing research, and the forthcoming edited collection of new writings on the subject: Women Artists, Feminism and the Moving Image (IB Tauris 2017).
