We are currently recruiting for two different posts based in our Information & User Services section (comprising User Services team, Collections team and Digital Systems & Services team), details as follows:
Subscriptions Assistant (REQ00565)
Grade 4, £18,412 to £21,220 per annum
Permanent, full-time (36 hours per week)
Library Services at the University of Essex provides high quality, user-focused services to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the university. The Collections team is responsible for acquiring, processing and managing the print and digital resources required to support library users.
We are currently seeking a Subscriptions Assistant to play a key role in the administration of journals and databases. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on the day-to-day co-ordination of the non-financial lifecycle of subscription resources, as well as assisting with the wider duties of the Collections team including: creating and editing of reading lists in our reading list management system; and, managing the library's physical collections. Additionally the postholder will be required to undertake regular evening and weekend duties supervising small teams of library staff providing frontline support to users. Applicants should demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills, the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, and an understanding of and commitment to providing excellent customer service. You should be educated to A level standard (or equivalent), including Maths and English to GCSE standard (or equivalent) at grades A-C.
This post is based at our Colchester campus and is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

Digital Systems & Services Assistant (REQ00567)

We are currently seeking a Digital Systems & Services Assistant to play a key role in the administration and support of the library digital systems, services and IT. The successful candidate will be expected to support the day to day administration of library systems and services, assist in the development, management and administration of the library intranet and website, and assist with the provision of a seamless service for members of the University community with regards to the integration of our e-resources, discovery layer (Library search) and other services. Additionally the postholder will be required to undertake regular evening and weekend duties supervising small teams of library staff providing frontline support to users. Applicants should demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills, the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, and an understanding of and commitment to providing excellent customer service. You will be educated to A level standard (or equivalent), including Maths and English to GCSE standard (or equivalent) at grades A-C.
