Hi Jennifer (and any others interested).
Not an academic study but Jenni Fuchs does reviews of children's books about museums on her blog: http://museumdiary.com/tag/book-club/

Subject: Museums in Children's Lit
Dear All,
I am gathering materials for a postgraduate seminar at the University of Glasgow on the representation of museums (and galleries) in children's literature, past and present. My interest is in the ways that such texts portray museums, and the sorts of activities and behaviours that they encourage and discourage.
I feel sure that this topic will already have been covered by GEM members in some way but my search for academic articles has, as yet, been pretty fruitless. I wondered if anyone could perhaps think of any papers on this topic, or could recommend scholars working in or around this area?
With thanks in advance for your help and time,
Jennifer Farrar
