The University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a Senior Statistician to join the Clinical Trials Unit, located on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge, and working closely with local investigators from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust to develop and deliver high quality clinical trials. The Unit has a diverse portfolio of over 40 trials, encompassing a broad-range of disease areas including oncology, cardiovascular medicine, paediatrics, surgery, vasculitis and radiology.
The statistics group is currently supporting a number of on-going interventional and observational trials. The post-holder will be expected to develop and implement statistical analysis plans, handle day-to-day statistical issues relating to the study design, randomisation processes, interim and final analysis of studies, contribute to manuscripts for publication, and prepare abstracts, posters and slides for presentation of analyses at departmental, national and international academic meetings. The role will expected to input into grant applications, independently take overall responsibility for statistical aspects of studies, and develop their own academic methodological research interests.
The range and remit of studies in the CCTU covers all phases I to IV. The CCTU is embedded within the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre and so there is an emphasis towards translational research, which regularly presents novel statistical challenges. There exists a vibrant statistical community within the campus in which the post-holder will participate.
Applicants should have a higher degree; at least a MSc in applied statistics, statistics, epidemiology, or a related field in quantitative biomedical research. Experience in using a major statistical package (R, Stata or SAS) is desirable. Experience in working within a clinical trials context or similar would be desirable.
