Washington University in St. Louis
The laboratories of Dr. Tammie Benzinger and Dr. Beau Ances within the Imaging Cores of the Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (http://www.alzheimer.wustl.edu/) at Washington University in St. Louis are looking for multiple highly qualified applicants in the fields of Neuroscience, Psychology, Image Analysis, Computer Science, and Machine Learning.
The Imaging Cores represents an interdisciplinary team of faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students that oversee the processing and analysis of neuroimaging data from three longitudinal program projects studying Alzheimer’s disease (AD). 1) The Healthy Aging and Senile Dementia (HASD) project focuses on the transition from cognitive normality to symptomatic AD in older aged adults. 2) The Antecedent Biomarkers for AD: The Adult Children Study (ACS) has established a unique cohort of middle age individuals with half of the participants having a parent with AD. 3) The Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer’s Network (DIAN, http://www.dian-info.org/) is an international, multi-site study of families with rare mutations that lead to AD at an early age.
All three studies follow individuals longitudinal using multimodal brain imaging including structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and positron emission tomography (PET) of β-amyloid, tau, and metabolism. Postdoctoral researchers will work using these techniques to characterize the evolution of pathobiology from preclinical to clinical phases of the disease. Strong interdisciplinary collaborations are also in place that will provide access to extensive clinical, neuropsychological, genetic, and cerebrospinal fluid data.
