Postdoc on Plant Epigenetics at University of Edinburgh
Salary range: £32,004 – 38,183
Applicants are invited to fill a Postdoctoral position within the
laboratory of Justin Goodrich in the Institute of Molecular Plant
Science at the University of Edinburgh (see lab website:
http://goodrich.bio.ed.ac.uk/).
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work together with a research assistant on
the project “Characterization of a novel plant Polycomb group protein
complex and its effects on the plant epigenome”. The work will be
focussed on using biochemical and genomic approaches to find out how the
recently identified ALP1 protein regulates Polycomb group protein
activity in plants. The project is a bilateral one with joint funding
from the UK BBSRC and SFI Ireland and work will be carried out as a
collaboration with the plant developmental genetics group of Frank
Wellmer at Trinity College Dublin.
We are seeking highly motivated and talented scientists with excellent
wet lab skills in Arabidopsis genetics and epigenetics. Candidates with
strong additional skills in protein purification and biochemistry are
particulary welcome. Applicants should have prior experience and
publications on Arabidopsis genetics and/or epigenetics, ideally as
first author in high impact journals on relevant topics. Candidates
should be willing and motivated to work in a collaborative team
environment towards generating excellent scientific outputs, and have
experience of contributing to the writing of research publications,
grant applications and research progress reports.
The project is funded for up to three years by the Biotechnology and
Biological Sciences Research Council. The successful candidate will
begin in June 2017. Applicants are invited to apply online through the
University of Edinburgh vacancies website
(http://www.vacancies.ed.ac.uk/) using the vacancy reference 039284 .
